See first part here: Understanding the cult (Part 1)
You have understood the organizational structure and destruction potential of the cult. But there is another important aspect that needs attention – the doctrine that a cult enforces. Often, the doctrine of a destructive cult varies on the whim of the leader and is found to be greatly extreme, with ominous prophecies making an appearance. In fact, most destructive cults have an insider doctrine that is preached to the members and a separate, harmless seeming outsider doctrine that is believed by the public. The behavior of cult members can be observed to determine doctrine which can then be included while determining the best course of action for the SIA.
While the cult and cult member are pivotal to creating a successful SIA, there is another aspect that can determine its success – the family members. Read more about the need to understand family members’ emotions in our next post.
