Chapter 3 Mental Alchemy
As Discussed by Occult Whistleblower, Pierre S. Freeman

When I was a Rosicrucian, I was embroiled in a vast daily pattern of exercises, reading and journaling which I thought would bring me the ‘blessings of the Cosmic.” The amount of attention in these exercises devoted to practical things was extremely small but when it was, I believe it was often quite toxic- like trying to influence someone by intruding into their consciousness and assuming their thought patterns- in a matter that favored your interest. He calls this process “assumption.” Here is a comment about its role in AMORC’s pantheon of exercises:
-the purpose of this mystical faculty is to assume momentarily the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of another person, so as to obtain this person’s assistance or to provide assistance to him or her.
Some would call that ‘black magic’ – despite Lewis’ frequent disclaimers about that attribution about AMORC’s activities in various places. So if you want a job, you might jump right into the consciousness of a prospective employer. Of course, you need to have the right intent- to take him over, that is- and direct his thoughts to hiring you.
On the other side of the manifestation scenario is this book, Rosicrucian Principles, which focuses on various positive and benign manifestation techniques. Maybe not the whole process, maybe there is a great amount of important stuff missing, but still makes some of the right moves.
Here’s one.
As I mentioned previously, Lewis somewhat derides the simple view that focusing on what you want- in the endgame, so to speak- is going to bring home the prize- your most important dream to your doorstep.
He does not deride this effort in itself- but criticizes only focusing on the Big Picture.
After became a member of AMORC, I soon left Haiti. When I was there, I had been a top engineering student and had a relatively lucrative job with the government of Haiti’s mining department. When I came to America, thinking it was the land of opportunity- and continuing to follow the disciplines offered to me by AMORC, I experienced poverty and homelessness, everything I was trying to avoid.
This is not to say that America is not- even now- the land of opportunity- but rather to say that my state of mind, as directed by AMORC did not lead me in this direction- precisely because I did not follow the kind of protocol suggested in Lewis’ book, Rosicrucian Principles For the Home and Business. That was not what I was taught as a member of AMORC.
In Lewis’ book, Lewis presents a portrait of a young lady whose goal was to be an architect. She was, indeed, following a kind of simplistic protocol as discussed previously. Lewis, in fact, describes her metaphorically as a woman sitting on a park bench, gazing across the park at a home that she wants to live in and visualizing her living and moving around in “her” house. Is that really going to get her the home? Is the universe going to just drop it in her lap because of her visualizations while sitting on the park bench?
No, Lewis says, if she wants to be an architect, she can’t just visualize the end game.
When she begins an authentic process of manifestation, she needs to be willing to do the things she needs to bring everything into proper focus. This means that besides visualizing the end game, she must be sensitive to the steps of the process of becoming an architect- which involves, for sure, going to school, going through a process of internship and then seeking full employment with an architectural firm.
It is understood that, initially, she might not understand the process she is involved with; that is, the steps she might need to take.
But one thing is that she would need to go school. In Lewis’ example, she forgoes her parents’ offer to help her financially. Instead, she takes jobs that bring her into some slight proximity to builders, drafting personnel and architects- but because she does not take advantage of her connections, her job doesn’t bring her closer to her goal.
If she had been visualizing and focusing on learning about the various architectural schools she could go to and praying for help from the Cosmic for guidance, a set of events might have been set off that would guide her in her journey.
When I left AMORC, I realized that in order to get a prosperous career, I had to go to school- and instead of playing all these ‘cosmic’ little games with myself like visualization, chanting, sleep postures, etc., I began to focus on my life in the same way I did before I got into engineering school. I started to take action and look for a school and the kind of work that would actually, not magically, support me.
Was there a magic in the things that happened to me- finding out that AMORC was a cult and deprogramming myself sufficiently that I could leave it, finding the appropriate kind of school, connecting with the kind of work that would use my mathematical talents? Yes, I think there was- but it was a simple protocol within myself- seeking help from God, seeing within myself what I wanted- step by step- before preceding to my current work and life style,
Lewis says that every step has to be dealt with in the process- and I agree with him.
But, depending who you are, that is not all there is to the process, I am quite sure.
