AMORC AND ABORTION

THE WISDOM OF AN OMNIPOTENT ORDER

Before we begin speaking of the controversial subject of abortion, let us remind ourselves of the exalted position that AMORC has placed itself in, particularly for the purpose of acquiring and retaining its membership.

Every really serious, expansively-minded religious cult generally tries to cast a net of elitism over its members. It would try to make the claim that it represents the only real religion, spiritual order or cosmically-protected institution on the planet.

            Why?

Probably because it helps with member retention because it is a big ego boost to people to think they are part of an elite, but it also helps to position themselves uniquely, to brand themselves as the ONLY CITADEL OF TRUTH on Planet Earth.

So, when an organization like this says something to members who believe in its unique destiny, they usually don’t question too much what it was said. So how will they wrap themselves around Degree 3, No. 6 of the Initiate Section which makes its position rather clear in regards to the consequences of abortion. Here theory could have very practical implications- in fact, those affecting human life itself.

AMORC, for whatever reasons, does not take the position, as many religious creeds do, that life enters the embryo at the moment of conception. Instead it says-

For centuries, the Rosicrucian Tradition has taught that the soul does not enter the body until the moment of birth or, more precisely, at the moment when the infant, having issued from the womb, inhales its first breath. Thus, with the first breath of life, the soul incarnates in the baby, making the baby an autonomous human being.

This is, indeed, a startling claim- for obvious reasons. Indeed, therefore, when you abort a baby, it is only a mass of empty protoplasm, waiting for its host.

In our next blog, we will examine this thought in more depth.
