Experiment No. 47 – Perceiving One’s Own Aura
“In our last monograph (The History of Color Medicine), we explained that the human aura is an electromagnetic field which is the result of the combined radiation of the physical body, psychic body, and spiritual body – the latter of which we prefer to call the soul in our teachings, since this word conforms more fully to our traditional terminology.”
The first experiment put forth by this monograph lays out a series of steps to help recruits unveil their psychic vision. Armed with this newly awakened sight, the Rosicrucian should begin to perceive the contours and colors of their aura. The process for stirring your psychic centers is as follows:
- Proceed to your sanctum, and extinguish all lights within the room.
- Obtain a violet spotlight. Place this light source directly behind where you will sit, facing away from your towards the opposite wall. According to the monograph, because violet is the last color on the visible spectrum of light it possesses special properties which act to lower your aura’s vibrational frequencies. In turn, this makes your aura more perceptible for those lacking sensitive sight. If you don’t have a violet spotlight, use a candle for now.
- A bowl of water should be placed on the altar. The natural evaporation of the substance is considered conducive to extrasensory perception.
- Focus on relaxing your body, starting from your toe up to your head. Accompany this process with a series of deep positive breaths.
- Open your eyes and look into the sanctum mirror.
- Begin to intone an “ehr” rolling out the r for as long as possible each time. This is used to strengthen and direct the electromagnetic fields flowing from the body.
- Concentrate your sight on your head and shoulders, try to avoid blinking unnecessarily. Don’t worry about hazy or cloudy vision
- Once you’ve completed this process. See if you can note the color or shape of your aura. Ideally you should be able to make out a clear predominant color around your head and shoulders.
- In some cases, you may not see an aura at all but you may receive distinct impressions, which seem unconnected to the aura.
- With time and practice you will no longer require the violet background or the intonation because your body’s electromagnetic field will be sufficiently dynamic and regular to be perceived without any further assistance.
Violet Light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum
Light is a form of energy, and like any energy light vibrates between two extremes. This movement can be represented in the form of spiraling waves. The peaks and troughs of these waves show charged particles switching between electricity and magnetism, which ultimately results in photons. All light is made up of photons. In scientific terms, the word vibration measures the amount of energy exhibited by a particular wave; light waves with greater vibration will have a higher frequency with a more rapid oscillation between extremes.
Unimpeded, light travels at pretty much the same speed wherever it goes, around 18 million kilometers per hour. However, when it passes through substances like air, water, or glass, then previously straight light rays are forced to bend which causes them to slow down. Light is made up of many different energies, each one vibrating on its own particular frequency and wavelength. The combination of these wavelengths is visible as white light, but as light moves through different mediums other colors can be clearly seen.
While we may perceive these colors as red, yellow, orange or indeed violet, the truth is that the boundaries separating colors in the visible spectrum are extremely ill-defined. As such, the frequencies and wavelengths separating violet from indigo are considered wholly subjective. Generally, only the center of each color on the spectrum can be clearly defined. Based on these readings, red has the lowest energy, frequency and vibration of any visible light while violet has the highest.
That’s right, the color Rosicrucian Order AMORC recommends for lowering vibrational frequencies is actually the most rapidly moving light on the entire visible spectrum. While the mechanism for this action is never described in the monograph, any basic theory of physics would tell us that rapidly moving atoms would serve to further excite any field emitted from the body.
Violet Afterimages
At this point I have an experiment of my own to propose. Hold a bright colored card up close to your face so it fills your field of vision, and stare at it for a minute or two. Now look away, and focus your attention on section of white wall.
If the object you looked at was red, then you should now be able to see a distinct impression of green. Similarly, if the object was blue you should now see a yellow impression. Just so we’re clear, I have not provided you with any arcane knowledge here. The phenomenon you’re witnessing is simply what happens when color-specific pigmented nerve cells in your eyes become tired. As long as they’re subjected to a particular color these cells must keep sending signals to your brain, but once the stimulus is removed they stop sending signals altogether. At that point, all that remains are signals from unexercised cells relating to opposing shades.
One wonders about how many of the auras witnessed in Rosicrucian Order AMROC’s experiment ascribe to this after-image effect.
