HOW DO THEY CONNECT WITH COSMIC CONSCIOUSNESS?
This blog will discuss an article called “Is Levitation Possible?” which was written by Ralph. Unlike most of my blogs, I don’t necessarily disagree with the bulk of this article, written by a former Imperator. The article was written to put forward the idea that levitation is a possibility for man and to chronicle some of the evidence for it. There is no doubt that feats of levitation, as documented by the author, has been claimed in many different cultures- Hindus, Buddhists and Christians historically have levitated- as well as mediums like D. D. Home and modern Russian subjects of parapsychological experiments. Many people have asserted that the ancient pyramids were built using some kind of anti-gravitational physics.
In this YouTube video, you can see an African Shaman levitating while he is being filmed by an incredulous German camera crew. I don’t know if this feat is true or not, but I can tell you I never saw anything like it in AMORC.
The question is- what has levitation or any other feat have to do with the pursuit of Cosmic Consciousness?
I would, off hand, say that almost everyone who deals with the pursuit of spiritual truth is going to connect with the claim of psychic powers- like telepathy, telekinesis or clairvoyance. They will also run into such claims as reincarnation memories or incredible feats of abstinence or physical endurance, like super long fasts, enduring dips in ice cold ponds or lying on a bed of nails for extended periods of time. Although many of my readers may think that I deny such phenomena or dismiss it as being unimportant, that is not entirely accurate.
I believe that there is a Spiritual Path and this phenomenon is often connected. What I like about AMORC is its contention that there is a spiritual way that deviates from pure fundamentalism- in which persons literally follow certain contentions in “sacred” literature, which aligned with a certain spiritual point of view. Theoretically, AMORC contend that a person can approach spirituality from the standpoint of a rational person, open to evidence, not just blind faith. For certain people, this point of view is refreshing and, as it was for me, a very alluring opportunity to search for Truth but also keep one’s head above water. The problem with this is that the object of this quest, the Rosicrucian quest for Cosmic Consciousness- with actual communion with God seems to be lost in the pursuit of magical powers.
Here is another example of levitation in which the practitioner, a Buddhist monk from Nepal, is speaking with Dan White, a magician who is about to be floored by what he sees. In the beginning of the video, White’s magic, which is a form of stage magic, is somewhat kindly discounted by the monk who calls it “fantastic.”
When the monk proceeds to levitate, the chants the traditional Buddhist mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, which is generally translated, “Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus.” In my view, the Jewel referred to in the Mantra is the Higher Self in the Lotus, the Sea of Cosmic Consciousness. So it cannot be said whether or not the monk is concentrating on his feat of levitation, but it can be said that he is certainly absorbed in his mantra, which is as invocation for Higher Consciousness. This, at least, theoretically, is the kind of focus that puts the Quest for Truth before the quest for personal power.
