As we have discussed in the state cults of the Egyptian and Roman Empire, the leader, as in AMORC, is the living link between God and man, a profound and unique connection whose reality is at the core of the system of divine governance on Earth. The early Christians bore the brunt of the punishment for denying this divine designation. Both these societies had a pagan mythology that provided a platform for the divinity of their rulers.

            But belief- for many cults- is not the only device used by cults. When in power, cults have no scruples as to using brute force to control their victims.
            In Fox’s Book of Martyrs, Victor, a very courageous Christian managed to live through sessions of hideous torture with courage and staying power, living to convert his jailers and bringing down on his head the wrath of the Emperor. The following narrative describes his fate:

This affair coming to the ears of the emperor, he ordered them immediately to be put to death, and the jailers were accordingly beheaded. Victor was then again put to the rack, unmercifully beaten with batoons, and again sent to prison. Being a third time examined concerning his religion, he persevered in his principles; a small altar was then brought, and he was commanded to offer incense upon it immediately. Fired with indignation at the request, he boldly stepped forward, and with his foot overthrew both altar and idol. This so enraged the emperor Maximian, who was present, that he ordered the foot with which he had kicked the altar to be immediately cut off; and Victor was thrown into a mill, and crushed to pieces with the stones, A.D. 303.

            No doubt the cult of the Emperor had no regrets at demanding spiritual allegiance from his recalcitrant followers and no respect for their religion.
            Now, whereas the power of the Pharaohs and the Emperors had the ability to demand obedience to their “religion” through ultimate force, most societies do not function in the context of the divine right of kings. Still, following World War II, for a variety of reasons, the cult of the Emperor in Japan and the Nazi cult emerged, instantaneously transforming large components of their populations to brutal, predatory killers.
            No where is this clearer than in the Nazi cult. Even the Swastika, inverted in rotation of the Aryan and Navaho swastika, is an occult symbol, perhaps indicating a connection to a German secret society, called the Thule Group.

            If one wants to examine the power of brainwashing and the social vulnerability of a displaced society, it might be well to examine how the Nazi era emerged after a period of runaway inflation and the humiliation of having to pay an exceeding amount of tribute to their angry American and European victors after World War I.  The Weimar Republic was a genuine democracy that attempted to survive after the tremendous reparation payments were placed on Germany. The hardship and rapid changes in German society during this period allowed the Nazis to assert their strange powers of persuasion on a vulnerable German population.

            There is no doubt in my mind that the Nazis were a cult modeled somewhat after the Roman Empire and using the same kind of brute force to compel obedience from their populations. But the first step in this process was the conversion of the masses of Germans to a population that allowed for the massive prosecution of the Jewish people and other minority groups in a manner quite similar to the Emperor of Japan’s militant cult organization which looked at the Japanese population as the esteemed “People of the Sun.” This kind of elite is typical of a religious cult but the fact is that this should not be so surprising because the Germans and the Japanese were actually ruled by religious cults- cults that perhaps began with brainwashing but, once assuming power, were happy to use brute force to enforce allegiance to their leader and the cult organization beneath them. They were not just ordinary run-of-the-mill dictatorships.

            Singer’s view that social instability, chaos and uncertainty are the underlying platform for the ascendency of cults is proven to the nth degree by the ascent of the Japanese and German cults whose power converted massive populations with proven instincts towards democracy- to the lowest kind of human behavior.

            I have always talked about cults, including AMORC, as factories for creating cult identities from ordinary human personalities. No case for the power of mind control than the effect of these two cults converting massive human populations to unrestrained homicidal and power-driven elites at the beck and call of their own unrestrained spiritual hierarchies.
